Milo Ventimiglia and his pregnant wife, Jarah Mariano, recently lost their Malibu house to the Palisades fire. Thus, they ended up joining many other celebrities like Billy Crystal, James Woods, and Paris Hilton in suffering a devastating experience. The currently ongoing fires have ravaged 2000 homes, caused over a million evacuations, and killed 10 people. Ventimiglia has since reacted to the loss of his home and had some strong words to say.
Milo Ventimiglia gets emotional as his Malibu house gets destroyed
Milo Ventimiglia opened up about how he felt “heavy” as he visited the remains of his now-destroyed Malibu house. Ventimiglia and Mariano witnessed the destruction of their house by the Palisades fire through security cameras.
“You start thinking about man…it’s so quick, you start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and whatnot,” The This Is Us star said to CBS News Morning‘s Tony Dokoupil, who had accompanied him to the site of his destroyed house.
Ventimiglia and Mariano had grabbed as many of their belongings as possible before evacuating their house on January 7. Unfortunately for the married couple, their currently unborn baby’s nursery was destroyed in the fires.
Interestingly, the 47-year-old had experienced a situation that mirrored that of his This Is Us character, Jack Pearson, who had died from smoke inhalation after his own home caught fire, which he rescued his family from. Ventimiglia acknowledged this, saying, “It’s not lost on me, life imitating art.” Moreover, Ventimiglia became a fire safety advocate after this storyline, partnering with Duracell to promote it.
However, Ventimiglia mentioned that he had “good friends” and “good people” he was working with and that he and his family would adjust to the situation. “Wife and baby and dog most important,” he added.
The destruction of his Malibu home due to the wildfires profoundly impacted Ventimiglia. The actor has since expressed interest in advocating for wildfire safety.
