With Friday Night Lights officially coming back for a reboot, one of the leading stars of the original series, Taylor Kitsch, has come out to address the possibilities of his return. The sports drama made its small-screen debut in 2006 and conveyed the journey of a troubled high-school football team. Despite all the odds being stacked against them, the group attempts to rally forward and attain victory in their matches. With a reboot currently in development, Kitsch has revealed if he will return to the Friday Night Lights setup.
Taylor Kitsch says he’s ‘been asked’ to be in Friday Night Lights’ reboot
The Canadian actor has stated that he is open to making a comeback to the acclaimed series’ reboot. Nevertheless, he also expressed that he does not intend to return in a full-time capacity.
Taylor Kitsch divulged the said information regarding the Friday Night Lights reboot during his recent appearance on Sirius XM’s The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw. “I’m always flattered. Never say never. But I would come in and maybe do something for an episode,” he stated. Kitsch further added, “I don’t want to go and do the whole thing. I’d go and have fun, but I don’t want to lead a ‘FNL’ or a reboot or anything.”
Despite his hesitation, the actor seemed to have a clear idea about the part he would play in the Friday Night Lights reboot if he chose to return. He remarked that he is open to reprising his original role as Tim Riggins. Taylor Kitsch also provided an alternate option, stating, “I would maybe play an opposing team’s coach or something and be on screen for like eight seconds. Yeah, I would do that.”
NBCUniversal confirmed the Friday Night Lights reboot back in November 2024, as per Variety. While the series is currently in development, it does not have an official release date as of yet. Nonetheless, NBC has released the show’s official logline, with the reboot set to premiere on Peacock sometime in the near future.
