Nosferatu reviews praise director Robert Eggers’ work
The upcoming gothic horror film Nosferatu has been receiving high praise from critics in the movie’s early reviews. Based on the 1922 classic horror film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror and Bram Stoker’s seminal 1897 novel Dracula, Eggers’ Nosferatu follows the story of Ellen Hutter, played by Lily-Rose Depp, who falls prey to the mysterious Count Orlok.
Reflecting the generally high praise that Nosferatu has so far received in his review, Coming Soon‘s Jonathan Sim wrote, “Nosferatu is a visually arresting experience that fills viewers with cold, unmistakable dread. The performances are a significant part of what sells the terror.”
The Hollywood Reporter‘s David Rooney stated in his review, “It’s thrilling to experience a movie so assured in the way it builds and sustains fear, so hypnotically scary as it grabs you by the throat and never lets go.”
Additionally, The Guardian‘s Peter Bradshaw described Nosferatu as “an elaborate, detailed love letter to the original, intelligently respectful and faithful.”
