Philomena Cunk is venturing onto another quest. Netflix has announced the release date for the one-hour special Cunk on Life with comedian Diane Morgan returning as the titular documentarian and investigative journalist.
The character was first introduced in Charlie Brooker‘s Weekly Wipe, with Morgan starring as Philomena Cunk. Morgan went on to star as the documentarian in 2018’s Cunk On Britain, 2019’s Cunk & Other Humans, and 2022’s Cunk On Earth, which Netflix made available for streaming in the U.S.
Morgan received mostly praise for her impressive portrayal of the clueless Philomena Cunk, a character known for her comedic and absurd approach to life’s most serious topics. Now, in her next venture — described as her most “ambitious quest” yet — Philomena Cunk will try to find the answer to life’s most-asked question: “What’s the point of it all?”
When is the Cunk on Life Netflix release date?
Cunk on Life is slated to arrive on Netflix on January 2, 2025, with Philomena Cunk returning to examine life and what it is really about. In her journey, she’ll find answers to several concepts discovered on earth as well as some of history’s known creatives.
“‘What’s the point of it all?’ is a question humans have been asking themselves since the dawn of time. But as we cling to our dying planet, working round the clock while we’re slowly being replaced by machines, now more than ever, people are desperately looking to make sense of their lives — before someone invents a computer that makes sense of it for them,” the description reads (via Deadline).
Cunk on Life is created and written by Black Mirror creator Brooker. Al Campbell directed the upcoming special, with Morgan serving as one of the writers alongside Ben Caudell, Erika Ehler, Charlie George, Eli Goldstone, Jason Hazeley, Lucia Keskin, Joel Morris, and Michael Odewale.
Cunk on Life hits Netflix on January 2.
