A new viral trend called the “Superman dance” has taken TikTok by storm. Netizens are now curious to know more about this trend and what it involves. In recent years, TikTok has seen a meteoric rise in all kinds of unique trends, whether they be dances, or use of slang words and terms.
Here is everything we know about the viral “Superman” dance trend on TikTok.
What is TikTok’s viral ‘Superman’ dance about?
TikTok’s “Superman” dance trend involves people striking the iconic Superman flying pose, one arm stretched forward aiming towards the camera, and the other clutched backward. This trend is a collaborative effort involving three people.
The participants perform a small dance in sync. After this, two people join their hands to form a base platform. In quick succession, the third person runs, jumps on the platform, and performs the Superman pose.
The participants then keep taking turns so that each one has a chance to the strike the pose. The reels are accompanied by a snippet of Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” which includes the lyrics, “Now watch me you (Soulja)/Now watch Superman (okay).”
Most videos show users performing the trend rather flawlessly. However, in several of them, users can be seen experiencing dance fails and small injuries, as some of the participants do not catch the third person properly. Moreover, TikTok has also issued a trigger warning in some of them. Despite this, the clips have garnered over a million views and likes on the social media platform.
However, one user adviced against practicing the trend, sharing the story of how he broke his younger sister’s hands when doing so, and got a scolding from their mother not long after. How this trend came to be or who or what originated it is unknown. However, its popularity does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
