A newly released featurette for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has made fans wonder whether Super Shadow will appear in the film. The featurette contained a shot that seemed to tease a possible appearance. The upcoming threequel will see Sonic and his allies, including Dr. Robotnik, go up against Shadow, a dangerous and powerful hedgehog with a mysterious past.
Here is what we know on the matter.
Will Super Shadow appear in Sonic the Hedgehog 3?
It is unconfirmed if Super Shadow will appear in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
However, at the 0:44 mark in a recent promotional featurette for the film, talking about Keanu Reeves’ Shadow the Hedgehog, two bright yellow dots were seen flying towards the Space Colony ARK, which is preparing to fire a laser to decimate Earth. Fans familiar with the games, particularly Sonic Adventure 2, believe those two yellow dots to be none other than Super Sonic and Super Shadow.
Furthermore, one of the promotional spots for the film saw both Sonic and Shadow reach for the Chaos Emeralds. As established in the Sonic universe, Shadow-like Sonic can achieve a Super form using the Chaos Emeralds. Thus, it is likely that at some point in the film, Shadow will get his hands on the Emeralds and use them to turn into Super Shadow.
Super Sonic first appears in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. At the end of the film, Sonic achieves this form to destroy a robot created by Dr. Robotnik.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 drops in theaters on December 20. Jeff Fowler reprises his role as director after having helmed the first two films. Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and John Whittington contributed to the screenplay. Casey and Miller also wrote the story. Hitoshi Okuno, Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara produced the film.
The film’s cast comprises Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Alyla Browne, Shemar Moore, Lee Majdoub, and Krysten Ritter.
