Storm De Beul, a 22-year-old YouTuber and nature enthusiast, tragically lost his life in a snowstorm while hiking in the Swedish wilderness. Known for solo adventures and hikes through remote regions, Beul spent a lot of time exploring the remote Jokkmokk area in Lapland this year. On October 30, he was discovered dead after being caught in a powerful blizzard the night before.
In his final moments, Beul sent a message to his grandmother and reassured her that he would survive the heavy snowfall. He also shared a clip with a friend, showing the severity of the storm and the conditions surrounding him. Despite reported warnings from friends, Beul remained unfazed. However, it did not prepare him for the intensity of the blizzard, which left him stranded in freezing temperatures.
It remains unclear why and when exactly Beul left his tent, but his mother, Elisabeth Rademaker, speculated that the intense storm conditions, which included uprooted trees, may have forced him to abandon his shelter. The temperature that night was -6°C, with wind chills making it feel as cold as -18°C. Rescuers found his body a little further away from his tent and were not able to thoroughly search the area due to the freezing weather.
Beul was away from his car, a day’s walk away, and had contacted emergency services for help, but due to the weather, authorities couldn’t send help in time. His father has promised to return to look for his son’s belongings, including the camera that documented his final trek, in spring when the weather has improved.
