Moana 2 Post Credits Scene Explained

Fans are wondering whether Moana 2 has an end, mid, or post-credits scene. They are also curious about Matangi’s fate in the film’s mid-credits scene. The story sees Moana and Maui embarking on a journey across Oceania’s seas and facing a new powerful threat.

Here are all your questions answered.

Is there an end, mid, or post-credits scene in Moana 2?

Moana 2 has a mid-credits scene.

The mid-credits scene finally reveals the storm god Nalo to the audience. Nalo was an unseen but looming presence for much of the film, as the film’s main antagonist Matangi worked for him. Nalo is shown being frustrated by Moana having undone the curse he had placed on the ocean, after which he vows vengeance against her for foiling his plans.

The mid-credits scene also brings Tamatoa, one of the original film’s main antagonists, back. He joins forces with Nalo and Matangi, expressing his desire to take revenge on Moana and Maui for tricking him in the previous film.

Thus, Moana 3 would find Moana and Maui going up against three villains.

What happens to Matangi in Moana 2’s mid-credits scene?

In Moana 2’s mid-credits scene, Matangi is shown tied down by lightning and being under Nalo’s mind control.

Towards the end of the film, Matangi chooses to secretly help Moana, Maui, and their allies by directing them to the spirit-filled seas to raise Motufenu. Matangi had done this, believing she would get her freedom from Nalo’s influence after the curse placed on the ocean was lifted.

However, while Moana successfully lifted the curse, Matangi unfortunately found herself under Nalo’s thrall once again.

Moana 2 is currently playing in theaters. The film is directed by Dana Ledoux Miller, Jason Hand, and David G. Derrick Jr. The voice cast comprises Auli’i Cravalho, Dwayne Johnson, Hualalai Chung, and Rose Matafeo, among others.
