Days of Our Lives continues to garner the interest of the viewers. The recent episodes took a tragic turn as the series bid a tearful goodbye to one of its popular characters, Doug Williams, who has passed away. So, how did he die?

How did Doug Williams die on Days of Our Lives?
Doug Williams passed away in his sleep in Days of Our Lives (via Soap Hub).
As fans are aware, Bill Hayes, who portrayed Doug in the series, passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 98. Thus, makers had no other option but to write off his character from the show. Hayes made his last appearance on July 11, 2024, with his final set of episodes filmed before his demise.
In the latest episode of the series, it is revealed that Doug took his last breath in his sleep. Later, Jennifer calls up Doug’s daughter, Hope to inform her about her father’s death. She tells Hope that Doug did not respond when Jack tried to wake him up from the bed. Hope’s whole world comes crashing down and she’s absolutely devastated.
Further, everyone gathers in Salem after hearing the news while the latter’s wife, Julie tries to gather herself. Everyone is emotional when Lani, Julie’s grandson’s wife, comments how Julie and Doug were the perfect couple. Later, Julie comes near her husband’s dead body and kisses his hands. She recalls her memory with him and says goodbye while confessing her love for Doug.
Doug William’s death has been one of the most tragic moments in the series given the popularity of his character. He was introduced as a conman who mended his ways after marrying Julie.
The character went through several ups and downs throughout the course of the show. It will be interesting to see how Doug’s death brings new twists to the series.
