General Hospital fans are curious to know if there are any plans to recast Chad Duell’s Michael Corinthos. Most recently, Duell publicly announced that he no longer would portray his titular character, saddening numerous fans. Since then, many have started to think if GH has any potential ways to bring him back in the future.
So, here’s everything you need to know.
Will Michael Corinthos be recast to replace Chad Duell on General Hospital?
Unfortunately, Duell will not be recast or replaced as Michael Corinthos in General Hospital as of now.
Executive producer Frank Valentini took to X (formerly Twitter) to address Duell’s exit from General Hospital. He confirmed that they have currently no plans on recasting the actor. However, he has shown openness to the recasting idea.
“There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year,” he added. The upcoming episodes will reveal where Michael and his family’s stories are headed after the latest departure of Duell.
On November 23, Duell took to his Instagram, sharing a General Hospital cast image and a lengthy note, detailing his exit. He mentioned that after spending a lot of years on the hit soap opera, he has decided to bid adieu to the show. Albeit it wasn’t an easy decision for him, he eventually took it, believing it to be the “right time” to depart.
He extended his gratitude to the producers, cast, and crew for gracing him with the opportunity. “I’m beyond grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this amazing journey.” Additionally, he thanked fans for their continued support and love over the years.
Michael Corinthos first made his appearance in 1997. His younger versions were portrayed by Dylan Cash and Drew Garrett. In April 2010, Duell was cast in the role.
