The Day of the Jackal Season 2 is officially on the way, as the Peacock and Sky Original thriller series has been renewed for a new season.
The new season was officially announced in a new video released by Peacock on their Instagram account. Intercut with a variety of clips from the first season, the announcement comes shortly after the premiere of the first season of the series.
The first season of The Day of the Jackal premiered earlier this month on Peacock, and has already become one of the streaming platform’s top shows, ranking #1 on the platform. The series also became the biggest Sky Original ever and the biggest launch on Sky in over two years.

What is The Day of the Jackal about?
“An unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, (Eddie Redmayne) makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee,” the official synopsis reads. “But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.”
The series stars Eddie Redmayne as The Jackal, an assassin known around the world, and Lashana Lynch, an MI6 agent who begins investigating him. Along with Redmayne and Lynch, the series stars Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, and Florisa Kamara.
Ronan Bennett wrote the series and serves as an executive producer alongside Brian Kirk (who also serves as director), Redmayne, Carnival Films’ Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant, Sky Sutdios’ Sam Hoyle, and Sue Naegle. Lynch serves as a co-executive producer, while Chris Hall serves as a producer and Frederick Forsyth as a consulting producer.
The first five episodes of The Day of the Jackal premiered on Peacock on November 14, 2024. New episodes will continue to drop weekly until a double-episode finale releases on December 12, 2024.
