Who Is Donald Trump’s Pick for Attorney General, Pam Bondi?

Donald Trump has nominated Pam Bondi as his pick for Attorney General following Matt Gaetz’s withdrawal from consideration. Bondi previously served as Florida’s Attorney General and has been a loyal supporter of Trump throughout his political career. This move has garnered significant attention and curiosity.

Here is a closer look at Donald Trump’s pick for Attorney General, Pam Bondi.

Who is Pam Bondi?

Pam Bondi, an experienced prosecutor and staunch ally of former President Donald Trump, has been nominated for the position of Attorney General, following the withdrawal of Matt Gaetz from consideration. Bondi served as Florida’s Attorney General from 2011 to 2019 and has extensive experience in law enforcement. She worked as a prosecutor for nearly two decades and during that time, Bondi handled a wide range of cases, ranging from domestic violence to capital murder.

Bondi’s political career gained national recognition during her eight years as Florida’s Attorney General. Though a Democrat until 2000, she won the Republican nomination in 2010 with strong support from figures like Sarah Palin. As Attorney General, Bondi became known for her tough stance on crime as well as her advocacy for anti-human trafficking efforts. She also gained attention for her efforts to challenge the Affordable Care Act and her opposition to expanding legal protections for the LGBTQ+ community. Despite her achievements, Bondi’s career has not been without controversy. She faced criticism for her role in receiving a political contribution from Trump’s nonprofit organization, which came shortly before she decided not to join a lawsuit against his for-profit university.

Bondi’s relationship with Trump dates back to the 2016 campaign and she has remained a loyal supporter ever since. She joined his legal team during his first impeachment trial and defended him during various legal challenges. In 2019, she served as a legal advisor and defense attorney during Trump’s first impeachment, where he was acquitted. Bondi continued her support for Trump through the 2020 election, backing his claims of election fraud. However, those claims were never proven. She also served on Trump’s Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission and later headed the legal department of the America First Policy Institute.
