Who Is Donald Trump’s Transportation Secretary Pick, Sean Duffy?

President-elect Donald Trump’s latest cabinet pick has sparked curiosity, as he announced Sean Duffy as his nominee for Secretary of the Department of Transportation. Known for his diverse career, Duffy’s appointment has drawn attention and prompted questions about his qualifications. So, who is Sean Duffy?

Here’s a closer look at Donald Trump’s Transportation Secretary pick Sean Duffy’s background.

Donald Trump appoints Fox News host Sean Duffy as Transportation Secretary

Donald Trump has chosen Sean Duffy, a former congressman and Fox Business co-host, as his nominee for secretary of the Department of Transportation. Duffy represented Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District between 2011 and 2019 and is a vocal supporter of Trump. He has prior experience in public service. However, his appointment raises questions, as he has limited experience in the transportation sector. This is the reason why the critics seem to have questioned Duffy’s qualifications for the role.

During his time in Congress, Duffy chaired the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and was part of the Financial Services Committee. He also advocated for expanding presidential powers on trade tariffs, a stance praised by Trump. After leaving office in 2019 to focus on his growing family, Duffy transitioned to media, joining Fox News as a contributor before co-hosting The Bottom Line on Fox Business.

Trump praised Duffy as a “tremendous public servant” and emphasized his vision for rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure, prioritizing safety, national security, and economic efficiency. If confirmed, Duffy will succeed Pete Buttigieg and supervise key projects involving major players like Elon Musk, whom Trump has selected to lead a new Government Efficiency Department.

Duffy was famous even before he entered politics. He was featured on MTV’s The Real World: Boston in 1997, later appearing on Road Rules: All Stars, where he met his wife, Rachel Campos-Duffy. Together, they have nine children and co-host the podcast From the Kitchen Table: The Duffys.
