When & Why Was A.P. Bio Canceled & Renewed Again

Mike O’Brien’s sitcom A.P. Bio is back on Netflix. It revolves around the misadventures of an AP biology teacher and his students at a high school. With the series performing well on the new streaming platform, fans want to know why was it canceled and renewed again.

Here is everything you need to know about the initial cancellation of the show.

When was A.P. Bio renewed and why was it canceled twice?

AP Bio was renewed and canceled twice due to its ratings. As fans are aware, the sitcom started airing in 2018 with the second season returning a year later. The show opened to a positive reception and currently holds an IMDB rating of 7.4/10 and 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the appreciation from critics, A.P. Bio reportedly failed to create magic in the ratings. As a result, the series was canceled after the first two installments.

While fans were disappointed, this was not the end for AP Bio. Following a year of cancellation, NBC Universal announced that the show will be back for a third season. AP Bio gradually went on to become a profitable venture (via The Direct).

The show that started off with a trp of 0.4 in 18-34 witnessed a huge jump to 5.9 through non-linear sources. Thus, the non-linear sources helped the series bounce back in the ratings charts leading to a comeback with a third installment. Further, creator Mike O’Brien addressed the show’s revival in a Reddit AMA.

He stated, ”I don’t remember how I found out about the cancellation. Maybe a call from my manager? And I don’t know the exact process of getting picked up by Peacock, but I know that the twitter campaign #saveAPBio surely helped! So thank you all!”

Following a comeback, A.P. Bio ran for two more seasons. However, it did not go on for much longer as it was eventually canceled after Season 4. O Brein took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the news and expressed gratitude to his fans.
