Dune: Prophecy Episode 2: Why Valya Harkonnen’s Voice Powers Did Not Work on [Spoiler]

Why did Valya Harkonnen’s voice power fail in Dune: Prophecy Episode 2? This unexpected twist has left fans of the series buzzing with speculation. Valya Harkonnen, known for her formidable Voice, encountered a shocking moment of weakness when her ability failed against Desmond Hart. Fans are eager to learn why her powers falter in this crucial moment.

So, what happened to Valya Harkonnen, and why did her power fail to work in Dune: Prophecy? Here is everything you need to know about this shocking event in the series.

Why couldn’t Valya Harkonnen’s Voice powers kill Desmond Hart in Dune: Prophecy Episode 2?

As of now, it is not revealed why Valya Harkonnen’s Voice powers couldn’t kill Desmond Hart in Dune: Prophecy Episode 2.

As fans are aware, Desmond Hart is a villain carrying evil intentions against sisterhood. In the first episode, he tries his best to pit the emperor against House Corrino. Things get worse when Hart brutally murders Pruwet Richese and Mother Kasha with his mysterious power. In the recent episode, Hart is finally about to be punished for his crimes with his face-off against Valya Harkonnen. She uses her powerful strength of voice to kill Hart in the same way she murdered Mother Dorotea.

In the Dune Universe, Voice is revealed as a power that can be activated by a change in tone during a verbal command. Voice can trigger people to act against their will and Valya uses this power to force Dorotea to end her life. However, in a surprising turn of events, her powers fail to work on Desmond Hart. It is not revealed how Hart manages to do the unthinkable but the reason can be his own mysterious abilities.

As seen in episode 1, the soldier managed to survive a deadly attack by a sandworm in the Arrakis desert. He even managed to burn Pruwet Richese without touching him and Kasha meets the same fate without any interactions with Hart. It is possible that Hart sustained Valya’s attack through these abilities which he might have gained from Arrakis.

Additionally, a mind can be trained to survive the Voice. In the book Dune Messiah, Paul trains a Duncan Idaho ghola on how to resist the voice. Similarly, Hart might have gained some ability or training to resist the power.

Fans can uncover the secret of Desmond Hart’s powers in Dune: Prophecy, currently premiering on HBO Max.
