Lakers’ Anthony Davis Out After Eye Injury Against Raps

In a win over the Toronto Raptors, the Los Angeles Lakers star forward Anthony Davis was forced to leave the game due to an eye injury. The injury, which occurred in the third quarter, raised concerns about his well-being. With Davis having been one of the standout players this season, his absence could significantly impact the Lakers‘ lineup.

Here is more about Anthony Davis’ injury.

How did Anthony Davis get injured?

The Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis exited the game due to an eye injury. The injury occurred midway through the third quarter after Davis blocked a dunk attempt from Raptors center Jakob Poeltl. While successfully completing the block with one hand, Poeltl’s off hand struck Davis in the face and eyes. The collision left Davis in significant pain as he rocked back and forth on the ground, holding his face. He remained down for a minute before walking off the court and heading to the locker room.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, sources reported that Davis experienced swelling in his left eye, which made it difficult for him to keep his eye open. As a precautionary measure, Davis was scheduled to see an ophthalmologist the following day for further evaluation. This injury is particularly concerning as Davis had suffered a corneal abrasion to the same eye earlier in the year in March.

Before leaving the game, Davis had been putting up impressive numbers, with twenty-two points, four rebounds, and two blocks. He was off to a stellar start to the season and had already been a key contributor to the Lakers. His injury added to the growing concern over his health, given his history of injuries. Davis had also missed a recent game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a bruised left heel. With the Lakers’ next game on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, Davis’ status remains uncertain as the team monitors his eye injury.
