Who is Billy Klapper in Yellowstone Season 5? Tribute Explained

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 continues to focus on the adventurous journey of the Dutton Cowboys. One of the major talking points among fans is a man named Billy Klapper. So, who is Klapper, and why is he given a tribute in Yellowstone Season 5?

Here is everything you need to know about this special mention in the series.

Who is Billy Klapper in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?

Billy Klapper appeared as a loriner in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.

The premiere episode showed Rip paying a visit to a local loriner (Klapper) in Pampa, Texas, in order to buy a bit for Lloyd. That’s when he comes across an astonishing set of spurs constructed using a single piece of metal.

For the unknown, Klapper was a spur-maker who passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 87. He ended up becoming a professional in this field thanks to the training by the legendary Adolph Bayers. Klapper used to work with a lump of soft and mid-grade coal at his worship located in Pampa, Texas. He was fully dedicated to his craft, making spurs from dawn till dusk.

However, the most unique fact about Klapper was his ability to recreate old designs of other makers. He could also easily replace the lost ones and repair the damaged ones. Throughout his career, Klapper made almost 800 spur designs and almost 900 bit designs, which are available in a notebook in his desk drawer at his shop (via Summer Stampede and Parade).

Apart from Klapper, the show has previously featured several real-life personalities. These include Buster Welch, Barry Corbin, and late John Prine. Welch is a horse trainer, Corbin is a cowboy, while Prine was a country folk singer.
