Ed Sheeran reveals the reason he got a ‘RED’ tattoo on his arm
Ed Sheeran recently told GQ the stories behind his tattoos. Among the many inks, one is “Red,” Taylor Swift’s album title. He got the tattoo on his left arm in October 2012. The singer said, “I featured on Taylor’s album ‘Red,’ I got it to signify that.” Swift and Sheeran collaborated on the song “Everything Has Changed.” The longtime friends went on to join hands for several more music releases.
Sheeran recalled, “It was actually before, I think I hadn’t been asked to be on The Red Tour at that point.” He continued, “Maybe this clinched it, and then I went on The Red Tour.” The singer recalled it as “a year of my life living in America.” Sheeran shared it was a “significant tattoo” of that time. Upon being asked what Swift thought of it, he replied that he can’t remember it. Sheeran then said, “I imagine at the time being like, ‘Why are you doing that?'”
Swift previously shared her delight during an appearance on “Alan Carr: Chatty Man” in 2012 over Sheeran paying tribute to her album. According to IBT, Swift said, “He has a tattoo on his arm and it says ‘Red’, which is after my new album.” Swift gushed that she thinks the tattoo is “the coolest thing ever” and she loves it because “it’s permanent.”
The much-adored duo has continued to celebrate their friendship over time. Earlier this year, Swift surprised fans and brought out Sheeran to perform a medley of their collaborations at the London show of her The Eras Tour.
