Truth Or Dare star Lucy Hale is set to play an Antarctic scientist in the planned sci-fi thriller White Mars, with Martin Owen set to direct from a script written by Matt Mitchell, Vicki Sargent, and Roo Berry.
What is the White Mars plot about?
Hale will be playing the role of Sammie, a microbiologist who embarks on a quest to battle an evil entity in a remote facility based in Antarctica.
“Set in an isolated Aquila Research Facility in Antarctica, White Mars follows microbiologist Sammie (Hale), as she fights to save her fellow crew members from a malevolent entity whose sole intention is to extinguish them all,” the plot description reads (via Deadline).
According to the outlet, White Mars will begin principal photography on November 11 of this year in Rome. The film’s producers include Matt Williams, Neil Jones, Steve Griffith, and Steve Jelley. Owen has recently worked in Above the Below, an upcoming survival thriller he co-directed with Idris Elba.
Apart from White Mars, Hale has also starred in a number of thriller features including Fear Island, Scream 4, Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island, and Inside Man. The actress is also attached to the upcoming action comedy thriller F*** Marry Kill, scheduled to debut in select theaters and on digital platforms on December 6, 2024.
“White Mars is an absolute psychological thrill ride, and I’m so excited to film this at the Cinecittà film stages in Rome. At the heart of this story is Sammie, a character I truly admire for her resilience and strength. I can’t wait to collaborate with Martin Owen, our incredible cast, and the entire team to bring this story to life,” Hale said in a statement (via Deadline).
Hale’s other movie credits include A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, Dude, The Unicorn, A Nice Girl Like You, The Hating Game, and Puppy Love, among others. On the television side, the actress has also starred as a main cast member in Privileged, Pretty Little Liars, Life Sentence, Katy Keene, and Ragdoll.
