Why Fans Think Sony’s Agent Venom Movie Could Follow The Last Dance

Following a recent rumor, fans have started to think that Sony Pictures is planning to work on an Agent Venom movie. With Venom: The Last Dance recently released, fans are buzzing with theories that an Agent Venom might be the next installment in Sony’s symbiote saga. However, speculation continues whether Tom Hardy will reprise his role or if the franchise will introduce a new direction. So, is it really confirmed that a Venom sequel is in the works?

Here’s everything we know so far.

Is Sony developing an Agent Venom movie after The Last Dance?

Sony Pictures hasn’t officially confirmed any plans for an Agent Venom movie, but rumors are gaining momentum.

The rumors stem from @DanielRPK’s response to an X (formerly Twitter) tweet about an Agent Venom movie news. The update teased that the Agent Venom movie is currently being developed by Sony Pictures. It also unsurely indicated if the movie will take place in Battleworld or not and allegedly revealed its release ahead of Secret Wars. Daniel Richtman debunked the other rumors by only allegedly confirming the Agent Venom movie in the works. Nevertheless, Sony has yet to give a word on this rumored film.

The comics featured Eugene aka Flash Thompson portraying Agent Venom. He bullied Peter Parker and they studied in the same institution, Midtown High School. He was also a fan of Spider-Man. Once, he comes in contact with a venom symbiote, ultimately transforming him into the titular character. He boasted extraordinary abilities like camouflage, superhuman strength, genetic memory, regenerative healing, and more.

Venom: The Last Dance which was released on October 25, reportedly marked the conclusion of the symbiote’s chapter at Sony. The final installment focused on Eddie Brock and his symbiote companion pitted against Xenophages and a Clandestine military unit. The conclusion witnesses the death of Venom with Eddie continuing to live his life and fulfilling his companion’s wish to see New York. Though the post-credit showcased a broken vial with a living venom, Sony had teased no plans for the character’s continuation, as of now.

It remains to be seen if Sony solidifies these rumors and continues to explore Venom’s story with Hardy or brings a new host.
