Paramount has added to The Agency cast, with a new guest star role set for the upcoming spy thriller series starring Michael Fassbender that premieres next month.
Who is playing the CIA director in The Agency cast?
According to a report from Variety, The Wire star Dominic West has joined onto the upcoming series in a guest star role. West will play the role of the Director of the CIA, although it’s unclear how many episodes West will star in when he appears in the series.
West is best known for his role in HBO’s The Wire, where he played Jimmy McNulty, an Irish-American detective. West also starred in Showtime’s The Affair, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. West has also appeared in Netflix’s The Crown, the 1999 A Christmas Carol, and more.
The Agency is set to release on November 29, 2024, and will be available on both Showtime as well as on Paramount+ with Showtime.
The Agency is based on The Bureau, a French television series that was created by Éric Rochant. The Bureau originally aired in France in April 2015 before it came to the United States in June 2016. The series ran for five seasons and starred Mathieu Kassovitz, Sara Giraudeau, Jean-Pierre Darroussin, and Léa Drucker.
“Based on real accounts and inspired by contemporary events, this French spy thriller follows the daily lives and missions of members of the country’s external security service — France’s equivalent of the CIA,” the synopsis for The Bureau reads. “It focuses on intelligence officer Guillaume Debailly, code-named ‘Malotru,’ who is mysteriously recalled to Paris after spending six years undercover in Syria. As he tries to reconnect with his daughter, ex-wife, and colleagues, Debailly risks everything by resuming contact with his married lover, Nadia, who might have secrets of her own that jeopardize the agent.”
