3 New Lego Movies in the Works, 1 Will Be Directed by Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins

Three new Lego movies are now in the works at Universal Pictures. One of them will be directed by Wonder Woman’s Patty Jenkins.

The Lego Group has partnered with Universal Pictures to create three brand-new, still untitled, and reportedly live-action movies. Jill Wilfert and Ryan Christians will produce all three films.

Per Deadline, these projects will be helmed by Jenkins, Jake Kasdan, and Joe Cornish

What do we know about the three new Lego movies?

The one that Kasdan — known for 2017’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the upcoming Red One movie — is working on comes from a script from Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul, based on an original idea and previous draft by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows. Kasdan will produce the movie alongside Melvin Mar.

Jenkins’ project, meanwhile, is based on a script that she wrote with Geoff Johns. In addition to 2017’s Wonder Woman, Jenkins is known for making the 2020 sequel, Wonder Woman 1984, and 2003’s Monster. She will produce her new Lego project via her Wicious Pictures.

Cornish previously directed 2011’s Attack the Block and 2019’s The Kid Who Would Be King. He is currently working on a new draft of the script for his movie, with a previous draft being written by Anna Campbell, which came from a treatment by Simon Rich.

Plot details for all three films remain under wraps at this time. No release dates or casting information has yet been revealed.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller made the first Lego Movie in 2014. Since then, there have been a number of spin-offs and sequels, including The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, The Lego Batman Movie, and The Lego Ninjago Movie. Universal’s Focus Feature also recently released Piece by Piece, a biographical drama about Pharrell Williams that is told with Lego animation.
