With the recent release of Venom: The Last Dance, fans of the Tom Hardy-led franchise are wondering if Venom 4 is in the works and has a release date. The curiosity surrounding Venom’s future and Venom 4 is rather unsurprising, considering how the promotional material for The Last Dance and Hardy’s various comments suggested The Last Dance would be the final film of the franchise. But still, could Venom 4 be made?
Here’s all we know about the Venom 4 release date and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Venom 4 release date?
There is no Venom 4 release date as the franchise has ended with The Last Dance. There are also currently no plans to make a fourth movie.
Both lead actor Tom Hardy and director Kelly Marcel had always envisioned the Venom franchise as a trilogy. They even highlighted this in a recent interview with People Magazine. “We knew it would be three,” Marcel stated. “We knew it was a trilogy and we knew it would end like this from the beginning,” he added.
Moreover, The Last Dance’s promotional material and marketing stressed the notion that it was the final film of the franchise and also the conclusion of Eddie Brock and Venom’s storyline.
Despite this, Tom Hardy seems to be willing to reprise the role again, if it means he gets to go toe-to-toe with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. He even confirmed this in a recent Comicbook interview. Furthermore, even though Venom’s story has ended, director Marcel teased in a Variety interview that there were more symbiote stories to tell in the future.
Why Venom 4 isn’t happening
Venom 4 isn’t coming out. This is because as mentioned above, The Last Dance was confirmed to be the third and final film of the Venom franchise.
Venom: The Last Dance is out in theaters. Aside from Tom Hardy, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Clark Backo, Rhys Ifans, Stephen Graham, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Hala Finley.
