ComingSoon is excited to do a giveaway for Mondo’s What We Do in the Shadows poster, which celebrates the FX show and is designed by Robert Laskey. Beautifully drawn, it features artwork of Laszlo Cravensworth and Nadja of Antipaxos (along with Nadja’s haunted doll). The limited-edition poster is available for sale in the Mondo Shop until this Sunday at 11:59 a.m. CT.
“I love monsters, so when I was contacted by Mondo to do a poster for FX’s What We Do in the Shadows, a show about some of the funniest monsters out there, I was more than thrilled!” said Laskey. The biggest challenge was having to choose only a couple of the vampires and humorous elements to put into the painting. Laszlo’s witches’ hat was suggested by Josh Manderville [Mondo Art Director], and I thought it would be fun to include Nadja’s doll of herself. I wanted to capture Laszlo’s pompous nature, so I chose to have him posing in a manner reminiscent of those classical self-aggrandizing military portraits. For Nadja, with her haughty personality, I figured she would most definitely want to be portrayed seated on her throne at The Vampiric Council. Moody greens and blues make for an eerie atmosphere; and the subjects being vampires, well, it seemed fitting that there be some accents of red.”

What We Do in the Shadows centers around four ancient vampires who live together in Staten Island with their loyal familiar, Guillermo. It is based on Taika Waititi’s 2014 vampire mockumentary. The series stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen, Mark Proksch, Kristen Schaal, and more. The show recently received multiple Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Berry’s Season 5 performance.
