Don’t Move Ending Explained: What Happens to the Killer?

Here are the ending explanations and spoilers for Netflix’s Don’t Move, which answer the question of whether Finn Witrock’s Richard lives or dies by the end of the movie. Directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, the story follows a woman who, while grieving a family tragedy, encounters a stranger who injects her with a paralytic agent, putting her in a race against time and for survival before her body’s nervous system shuts down.

What happens at the end of Netflix’s Don’t Move?

In Netflix’s Don’t Move’s ending, Iris’s senses, which had been paralyzed for the better part of the film, start returning. She is eventually able to speak, using the opportunity to convince Richard, who is driving her to a nearby lake, not to kill her by reminding him of his daughter.

While Richard drives Iris to the nearby lake, he gets a call from his daughter. He learns that she and his wife are coming to visit him at the house where he has been spending a lot of time working on himself.

Richard then changes his original plan of taking Iris to his house. Instead, he takes her to a secluded area to kill her. Iris tries to convince him to abandon her on the road, to no avail.

Iris eventually regains significant control of her body and stabs Richard with a syringe, which does nothing. Richard then drags her into a lake and throws her into a boat. However, Iris distracts Richard by asking him to hand her Mateo, her late son’s red toy boat, claiming she wants to hold it as she dies. As Richard is distracted by giving Iris the boat, she uses the opportunity to stab him in the neck.

An enraged Richard quickly brushes the neck wound and tries to kill Iris, only for her to shoot him. The boat the two were on starts sinking, but Iris successfully returns to shore as her senses fully return.

Does Finn Witrock’s Richard live or die in Don’t Move?

Don’t Move leaves Richard’s fate ambiguous as it does not end with him dead. Instead, it shows him having survived his skirmish with Iris but badly bleeding and choking on his blood due to the neck stab wound Iris dealt him. The makers of this Netflix movie likely did this to set up a sequel and tease Richard’s possible survival.
