Based on a True Story Season 2 Trailer: Kaley Cuoco Peacock Show Returns

Peacock has released the Based on a True Story Season 2 trailer for the upcoming return of the hit dark comedy thriller starring Emmy nominee Kaley Cuoco as Ava and Chris Messina as Nathan. The next installment is scheduled to debut on November 21, 2024, with eight new episodes.

What happens in the Based on a True Story Season 2 trailer?

The video features Ava and Chris struggling with being first-time parents. It also highlights the return of the Westside Ripper, which leads Ava to start another dangerous investigation in hopes of finally uncovering the serial killer’s identity. Season 2 will also feature returning series regulars Tom Bateman and Liana Liberato, with new cast member Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) signing on for the role of Drew, who will be Ava’s newest friend.

Based on a True Story is written and executive produced by showrunner Annie Weisman. In addition to leading the cast, Cuoco and Messina are also executive producing, along with Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, director Alex Buono, writer Jaclyn Moore, and Craig Rosenberg. It is a production by UCP.

“Season 2 finds new parents Ava and Nathan Bartlett three months into parenthood. Focused on taking care of her family, Ava is determined to resist her true crime obsession and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan trains private tennis clients,” reads the logline. “But a series of new murders pulls her back in – is Matt behind the slayings? Is Tory, now entangled in a relationship with Matt, in danger? For a while, life is good — Ava’s TikTok habit and her new friend Drew provide a welcome distraction, and Nathan’s all in on reigniting his tennis career as well as his friendship with Matt — until danger comes knocking, literally.”
