Who is Marvel’s Death? Powers & Origin Explained

Agatha All Along is getting interesting with every episode. The seventh episode left viewers thrilled with the twists and surprises. Following Billy Maximoff’s revelation, the show is here with another MCU easter egg. It is none other than Rio Vidal or the Green Witch as Marvel’s Lady Death. So, who is Rio Vidal’s Lady Death, and what are her powers?

Here is everything you need to know about the character and its origin in the cinematic universe.

Who is Rio Vidal’s Lady Death in MCU?

The character first appeared in Marvel Comics’s Captain Marvel #26 in 1973. Her name reflects her personality, which means the embodiment of death. She is presented as a skeleton wearing a black and purple robe strongly supporting her persona. Additionally, Lady Death serves as a foil character to Eternity as the former symbolizes the end of life in the universe.

In the comics, she is featured alongside numerous characters with popular storylines with Thanos and Deadpool aka Wade Wilson. Thanos was shown to be madly in love with her who could go to an extent for her acceptance which was even hinted at in the film The Avengers. The powerful villain’s real intention behind collecting the six infinity stones and wiping out half the world was winning over Lady Death.

On the other hand, Lady Death forms a close bond with Deadpool accounting for several hilarious moments. The two even develop a romantic bond given Deadpool’s power to avoid death. However, the affection does not sit well with Thanos, who curses the superhero with immortality to not let him visit Lady Death ever.

What are the powers of Lady Death?

Lady Death is one of the most powerful characters in the comics. She is an immortal abstract being who can control death and can take any shape or form. The character even has her own realm called Realm of Death. With complete control over death itself, Lady Death can kill and resurrect anyone at her will. Further, she can play with time, space, matter, and reality with her nigh-infinite knowledge and power.

With Rio Vedal’s revelation as Lady Death, the stakes have increased for Agatha All Along. It will be interesting to see how the green witch plays with her powers triggering new twists and turns.

Agatha All Along is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
