Toho Animation has released The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 teaser trailer for the upcoming next installment of the popular romance historical dramedy anime. The series is based on the Japanese light novel series from writer Natsu Hyūga and illustrator Touko Shino.

When is The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 release date?
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 is scheduled to debut on January 10, 2025. Just like its first installment, the new season will also be available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The date announcement comes after seven months since Season 1 wrapped up its 24-episode run. At the moment, it’s still unclear if Season 2 would also have 24 episodes or less.
“Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace,” reads the synopsis (via Crunchyroll). “But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!”
The series hails from directors Norihiko Naganuma and Akinori Fudesaka, with Naganuma also serving as the composer. The voice cast includes Aoi Yûki/ Emi Lo as Maomao, Takeo Otsuka/ Kaiji Tang as Jinshi, Katsuyuki Konishi as Gaoshun, Atsumi Tanezaki as Gyokuyô, Hiroshi Yanaka as Luomen, Takuya Kirimoto as Lakan, and more. It is a production ofToho Animation studio and OLM.
