But Ron and his fraternity-like crew are about to get a wake-up call in the attractive form of Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), who joins the newsroom, imbuing it with a feminine and feminist touch. At first Ron accepts Veronica, as long as she recognizes that her place at the station is to cover “female-interest” stories, such as pet fashion shows and cooking segments. But Christina has ideas of her own and quickly grows tired of being used as eye candy; taking matters into her own hands, she not only steps on Ron’s toes but does so behind the news desk, setting off a war between the two and pitting Christina’s professional ambition against the unrestricted sexism that seems to run rampant at the network. Starring Will Ferrell (“Stranger Than Fiction”) as Ron Burgundy, Christina Applegate (Employee of the Month”) as Veronica Corningstone, Paul Rudd (“The 40 Year Old Virgin”) as Brian Fantana, Steve Carell (“Little Miss Sunshine,” “The 40 Year Old Virgin”) as Brick Tamland and Fred Willard (“For Your Consideration”) as Ed Harken.

Darren admits that he likes hitting because it “takes out his anger.” Lisa and her boyfriend, John, have been together for two years, but Lisa doesn’t know how to manage her children without resorting to anger or threats to call John, who has a lion’s roar that intimidates the boys. The violence between the children heats up in the car, and Lisa and John often can’t get more than two blocks from home without having to pull over to manage the chaos. In addition, the island itself will be explored culled from events that have taken place which may reveal some of its secrets that might have been missed upon first viewing.

EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11 (7:00-8:00 & 8:00-9:00p.m.) — “Thomas Family” On September 11, 2001, Jason Thomas helped rescue two police officers trapped in the debris from the fallen twin towers. Though he risked his life, Jason kept his identity a secret, as he felt he deserved no special recognition for his act of bravery. He was living on New York’s Long Island at the time of the 2001 attacks. When he heard the news, he skipped his criminal justice class, grabbed his Marine uniform and headed for the twin towers to help. With another rescuer, he saved the lives of two Port Authority police officers, then disappeared to the next task at hand. His role came to light when he saw the trailer for the film “World Trade Center” which featured the police rescue. Neither New York authorities nor the film’s producers had been able to locate the man who identified himself at the site only as “Sergeant Thomas,” and the film portrayed him as a white man, though he is black. When reporters tracked him down, he hesitantly came forward with his story. Now he is celebrated all over the country. This hero served his nation in its time of need. Now it’s up to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to serve this family with a new home that’s strong and safe. Ty also travels to New York City’s Ground Zero, where he has an emotional meeting with police officers John McLaughlin (played by actor Nicholas Cage in the film) and Will Jimeno, the two men Jason saved and the last two people to be pulled alive from the rubble.

Mariah was born with fairly severe cerebral palsy and gets daily physical therapy from Mom, but she has no physical contact with Dad, as he no longer helps her out with her therapy. Mariah craves her dad’s affection. John, a very traditional dad, doesn’t approve of teen Taylor’s punk-goth style and strong-will; they are constantly butting heads. The most difficult part of the day for Denise is when she’s trying to do therapy with Mariah and the little ones interrupt and distract them. The girls’ tantrums and demands have driven Denise to the end of her rope. Jo’s faced with the challenge of saving Dad’s relationships with the two oldest girls, especially Taylor, before they’re too far gone, and getting Denise to demand respect from the little ones and keep them from interfering with her therapy time with Mariah. Can this family be saved?

The O’Donnell family’s case is exceedingly rare, as national autism experts have not recorded a single other family in the United States with five autistic children. Classic autistics have problems talking, relating to people and playing. They can be hypersensitive to their environment and react strongly to certain sounds, colors and textures. Caitlin, the oldest at 15, and Kiernan, their youngest at 5, have the most severe form, called classic autism, and are expect to live with their family their whole lives. Furthermore, supporting the family keeps Patrick away from home most of the time, as he balances two jobs to make ends meet, working by day at a mail distribution center and by night as an umpire for softball games for the city of Austin. With a salary barely adequate for a special needs family of eight, the O’Donnells are struggling, to say the least. With thirty days left until foreclosure on their home and worries of losing their children to the state if their home isn’t deemed to be a safe and secure environment, the O’Donnells are in desperate need of a new home that is specifically suited to each of their children’s very different sensory needs.

Kim is in for the shock of her life when she meets the Haigwoods, who eat raw chicken, raw beef and 20 raw eggs a day. Brian’s also baffled by his son’s troubles with schoolwork, their house is a disaster, and all four kids have serious behavior problems because there’s no discipline at home.
