When is the Hippo release date?
Hippo is scheduled to make its debut in select theaters on November 12, 2024. The film stars Kimball Farley (Ghost Hunt) as Hippo, Lilla Kizlinger (Explanation for Everuir) as Buttercup, Eliza Roberts (National Lampoon’s Animal House) as Ethel, Jesse Pimentel (In the Moment) as Darwin, and Vann Barrett as Dr. Lombardi, with Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight) as the narrator.
The film is directed by Mark H. Rapaport, who co-wrote the script with Farley. Executive producers are David Gordon Green, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, Charmaine Kowalski, and Julian Lawitschka, with Rapaport, Anthony Argento, and Siyu Lin serving as producers.
“The film examines the coming-of-age of two step-siblings: Hippo, a video-game addicted teenager and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant with a love of classical music and Jesus,” reads the synopsis. “Like the Ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by a brother who prefers to indulge the art of war and chaos. The result is a hormone-fueled, tragicomic waking nightmare that must be seen to be believed.”
