Ballerina Reshoots Rumored to Have Delayed Henry Cavill’s Highlander

The John Wick spin-off Ballerina, starring Ana De Armas, has already experienced several production issues, prior to its release. The movie has already undergone extensive reshoots, causing its release date to be pushed back by a year. However, Ballerina’s filming issues and subsequent reshoots have also reportedly caused production to be delayed on the Highlander film, starring Henry Cavill.

Ballerina reshoots delayed work on Highlander by five months, claims report

A recent report has claimed that development on Highlander was delayed by five months due to the Ballerina reshoots.

The update comes from an insider source and was first shared by TheWrap. As per the source, reshoots on Ballerina were ordered after the quality of director Len Wiseman’s initial cut was deemed sub-par. Therefore, Chad Stahelski, who has famously helmed all four entries in the John Wick franchise, was called upon to reshoot most of the finished movie.

A majority of the said reshoots took place in Prague, spanning two to three months, as per the insider. This seemingly caused the production of Henry Cavill’s Highlander, which is also being helmed by Stahelski, to get delayed by five months. “Chad is going to do Highlander, but cleaning up Ballerina pushed him by five months for sure,” the insider noted.

The anonymous source also stated how Stahelski’s schedule was jeopardized to salvage someone else’s mistake. “Of course, Chad had to clean up someone else’s mess. Remember, this film is basically John Wick 3.5,” he added.

Amidst the delay of Highlander, Henry Cavill has opted to star in Amazon MGM’s Voltron. The project is scheduled to commence its production phase later this year. Nevertheless, work on the Highlander script is currently progressing, as per The Wrap.

Alongside Ana De Armas, the much-discussed Ballerina also features Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Lance Reddick, among others. The movie is currently scheduled to hit theatres on June 6, 2025.
