Kyle Chandler, who will soon play Hal Jordan in the DCU series Lanterns, has joined the cast of RIP.
RIP is a new Netflix crime thriller movie that is being directed by Joe Carnahan. Carnahan previously made 2006’s Smokin’ Aces, 2010’s The A-Team, 2011’s The Grey, and 2021’s Copshop, among other titles.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Chandler has been tapped to play a DEA Agent in RIP. The cast of the movie also includes Ben Affleck (Justice League), Matt Damon (Oppenheimer), Sashe Calle (The Flash), Néstor Carbonell (Shogun), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Silent Night), and Teyana Taylor (A Thousand and One).
Chandler was recently tapped to play Hal Jordan in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU, meaning he’ll be starring alongside Aaron Pierre, who is playing John Stewart, in the forthcoming Lanterns series from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King.
Chandler also played Eric Taylor in the Friday Night Lights series. His previous filmography includes 2005’s King Kong, 2011’s Super 8, 2012’s Argo, 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty, 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street, 2015’s Carol, 2016’s Manchester by the Sea, 2018’s Game Night, 2018’s First Man, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, among other titles.

“Against the backdrop of an investigation into the murder of a fellow officer, the crime thriller sees a team of Miami cops discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house,” The Hollywood Reporter’s description of the movie reads. “As trust among the team begins to fray, outside forces learn about the millions at the house. This pressure put the cops in an impossible situation that leads to moral dilemmas and deadly confrontations.
Affleck and Damon are both producing RIP via their Artists Equity banner, as are Luciana Damon and Dani Bernfeld. Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran are executive producing for Artists Equity.
A release date for RIP has not yet been announced by Netflix.
