Why Was Kaos Canceled by Netflix Before Season 2?

Fans are curious to learn why was Kaos canceled after such a short run on Netflix. The Jeff Goldblum-led drama sparked intrigue with its premise, but the sudden cancellation has left many wondering what went wrong and whether there’s hope for a Kaos Season 2.

So, why was Kaos canceled? Let’s dive into the reasons behind the show’s cancellation and if there’s any chance of a revival.

Why did Netflix’s Kaos get canceled?

Kaos was canceled because it didn’t hit the necessary viewership numbers.

Despite some initial interest, the series failed to gain the momentum it needed. As per Netflix’s viewership metrics, Kaos was in 4th position during the week of its debut, accumulating just 3.4 million views. It then shifted up to 3rd position for the week of September 2-8, 2024 with a total of 5.9 million views. However, in the subsequent weeks, the numbers dwindled. By September 9-15, it dropped to 5th place with only 3.4 million views, and by the following week, it slid to 7th place with just 2.2 million views. It then completely fell off the top 10 charts in the subsequent weeks.

While most of the cast and crew did not react to Kaos’ cancelation, Aurora Perrineau, who played Riddy, took to Instagram to express her disappointment and heartbreak. Nevertheless, she also expressed gratitude for the time she spent working on the show and bonding with her colleagues. You can check out her full statement below:

Could there still be a Kaos Season 2?

Kaos Season 2 will likely not happen.

This is because it was a Netflix original. This essentially means that there is little to no chance that another network or streaming service will pick up the series and continue it.

Kaos was helmed by Charlie Covell, whose credits include projects like Misfits, The Inbetweeners, and Midsomer Murders. The main cast comprises Jeff Goldblum, Stephen Dillane, Aurora Perrineau, Janet McTeer, Nabhaan Rizwan, Killian Scott, Misia Butler, Stanley Townsend, and more.
