Agatha All Along Episode 5 Recap, Ending & Teen’s Real Identity Explained

Agatha All Along Episode 5, titled “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power,” ends with a big revelation, something fans have been speculating on since before the series premiere. The coven’s journey on the Witches’ Road continues in this episode. They encounter the Salem Seven, prompting the group to make witches’ brooms out of tree branches and fly. When they arrive at the cabin for their next trial, they realize it’s Agatha’s turn to be tested. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, leaving viewers with many questions while simultaneously answering some pivotal queries about the plot.

Here is everything that happens at the end of Agatha All Along Episode 5.

What happened at the end of Agatha All Along Episode 5?

The episode begins in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1693. Agatha’s mother, Evanora Harkness, and her coven try to punish Agatha for betraying them. But, Agatha’s powers allow her to absorb their abilities and life essence. In the present, the group arrives in a cabin with a ’80s aesthetic for their next trial. Noticing the blood moon outside, Rio concludes it’s Agatha’s trial.

They find an Ouija Board to communicate with the spirits. The first spirit that arrives claims that they are Death. This seems to make Rio laugh, indicating that the fan speculations about her being the personification of death in the MCU might be accurate. Ultimately, the spirit reveals herself to be Evanora and possesses Agatha. Likely due to the trials, Alice seems to have gained powers, which she uses to try to save Agatha. Although she does succeed in forcing Evanora to leave her daughter’s body, Agatha absorbs Alice’s powers and life essence, killing her.

Is Teen Wanda’s Son, Billy Maximoff / Wiccan in Agatha All Along?

Yes, Teen is Scarlet Witch / Wanda Maximoff’s son, Billy Maximoff. In the comics, Billy Maximoff, or Billy Kaplan, is the superhero known as Wiccan. Agatha All Along Episode 5 effectively confirms this in its ending moments.

Teen tries to save Alice by saying the name of Nicholas Scratch aloud, after realizing that the spirit of Agatha’s son is in the room. But, it’s too late. Once they are out of the cabin, Teen confronts Agatha, whose demeanor suddenly shifts to something sinister as he questions what it means to be a witch. Agatha observes that Teen is so much like his mother. This apparently triggers something within Teen, and although he previously didn’t have any powers, blue energy starts to swirl around his hands. He controls Jennifer and Lilia as they pick Agatha up and dump her into the muddy swamp at the side of the road, which swallows her whole. Teen then throws the other two women into the swamp as well.

As the episode ends, a crown appears on Teen’s head, almost similar to that of Scarlet Witch, though this is blue, confirming Teen’s identity as Wanda’s son.
