Colbie Young was arrested on the charges of battery and assault on an unborn child. The jail records revealed he was taken into custody by the Athens-Clarke County Police at 4:18 on the charges of misdemeanor.
According to police reports obtained by The Associated Press, the Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver got into an altercation with a 20-year-old woman. The woman who called herself Young’s former girlfriend opened up about the matter in front of the officers. She revealed she paid a visit to the NFL player’s apartment “to speak about their relationship.”
However, the conversation took a heated turn “after she found out he was on the phone with another woman.” Further, she said Young “physically pulled her out of his room” and “grabbed her from behind.” The 20-year-old also said that he even “picked her up and began to squeeze her torso, and abdomen very hard.”
Subsequently, the officers found bruises, discoloration, and redness marks on the woman’s skin aligning with her statements. However, Young denied the accusations. Further, Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, said his client did not cause any harm to the woman.
He stated, ”Colbie Young was arrested last night after he asked his ex-girlfriend to leave his apartment.” Stephens further added, “He did not make any physical contact with her in any way that could ever be considered a crime. I expect Mr. Young to be fully exonerated once our investigation is complete and the truth revealed.”
Georgia Bulldogs’ coach, Kirby Smart, refused to comment on the case stating it is “a pending legal matter.” He also said that he has not spoken to Young yet. Later in the afternoon, Young was released from custody with a bond of $3,800.
