A Solo 2: A Star Wars Story trailer has recently been trending online. As expected, fans are wondering whether it’s real or fake. Moreover, has Disney greenlit a Han Solo 2 movie and will Alden Ehrenreich return to the Star Wars franchise as the beloved character?
Here’s all you need to know about the trailer being circulated online and whether a second Han Solo movie is indeed in development.
Is the Solo 2: A Star Wars Story trailer real or fake?
The viral Solo 2: A Star Wars Story trailer is fake and fan-made.
Launched on October 1, 2024, it has amassed 158k views till now, making fans think it could be real. But it uses footage from the previous Han Solo outing along with other Star Wars projects and was posted by the YouTube channel Darth Trailer, instead of Disney.
You can watch the trailer here:
Darth Trailer is known for its concept trailers and the aforementioned compilation footage is another such example. It suggests that Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo will return alongside Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra. However, the Darth Maul cliffhanger from the first film will not be resolved anytime soon. This is because Disney hasn’t officially greenlit a sequel due to the first film’s box office failures.
Will Alden Ehrenreich return as Han Solo in Star Wars?
While a Han Solo sequel may or may not happen, Alden Ehrenreich is still interested in returning. While promoting his Ironheart role at the D23 Expo in August 2024, he mentioned that he would come back for the “right version” of the story.
Upon being asked about his willingness to return, Ehrenreich told Access Hollywood:
“Yeah, maybe, if it’s the right version of it. You know, it’s such a fun character, and the story that I did is kind of the making of Han Solo. So I got to really be like the Han Solo we know and love in the last bit of the movie, and if it was the right thing it’d be fun to play him and be the guy in that way.”
Whether Ehrenreich gets to return as Han Solo remains to be seen. But if not a Solo sequel movie, Disney could eventually make a Han Solo series with him. Additionally, Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian series could be another project where Ehrenreich would fit right in. That said, nothing is confirmed for these projects at the moment of writing.
