Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Cast in New Nicholas Sparks Adaptation Movie Counting Miracles

Reacher’s Alan Ritchson has been cast in a new movie that being adapted from one of Nicholas Sparks’ most recent novels.

Ritchson is known for playing the title character in Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher series, which premiered in February 2022 and has so far aired two seasons. He also voiced Raphael in 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (and also the 2016 Out of the Shadows sequel), played Kevin Devlin “Thad” Castle in Blue Mountain State, and starred as Hank Hall/Hawk in DC’s Titans series.

Per Variety, Ritchson has now been tapped to lead the cast of Counting Miracles, a new Amazon MGM Studios that is an adaptation of Sparks’ novel, which was published in September 2024.

What else do we know about Counting Miracles starring Alan Ritchson?

“In Counting Miracles, former Ranger (Ritchson) returns to his small hometown with one mission: to find the father he never knew,” the description reads. “While there he crosses paths with a doctor who is balancing her own life as a single mother of two and a reclusive old man with a mysterious past, leading to unexpected connections and a journey toward belonging.”

Ritchson will produce the movie via his AllyCat Entertainment banner. Industry Entertainment’s Dan Spilo, Di Novi Pictures’ Denise Di Novi and Margaret French Isaac, and Theresa Park will also serve as producers.

No other casting has been announced at this time. No director or screenwriter are named in Variety’s article.

Along with the aforementioned titles, Ritchson’s filmography includes 2013’s The Hunter Games: Catching Fire, 2020’s Ghosts of War, 2023’s Fast X, 2024’s Ordinary Angels, and 2024’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He’ll soon be seen in Luke Greenfield’s action comedy movie Playdate and Patrick Hughes’ sci-fi film War Machine.

A release date for Counting Miracles has not yet been announced by Amazon MGM Studios.
