Halle Berry Joins Chris Hemsworth in Crime 101 Heist Thriller Movie Cast

Halle Berry is joining Chris Hemsworth in the cast of a new heist thriller movie called Crime 101.

Crime 101 is a new Amazon MGM Studios movie that is an adaptation of a Don Winslow short story that was published in 2021. It is directed by Bart Layton, who also wrote the script with Peter Straughan.

Per Deadline, Berry has been tapped to play the female lead in the movie alongside Hemsworth. The movie will also star Mark Ruffalo (Spotlight, Thor: Ragnarok) and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin).

Berry was recently seen in Netflix’s The Union, an action movie that co-stars Mark Wahlberg, Jackie Earle Haley, and J. K. Simmons. Her latest movie, Never Let Go, is also currently playing in United States theaters. Directed by Crawl’s Alexandre Aja, Never Let Go also features performances from Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins.

What else do we know about Crime 101 with Halle Berry and Chris Hemsworth?

While plot details for the movie are largely being kept under wraps at this time, Deadline reports that Winslow’s story “has shades of Heat as it follows high-level jewel thefts that are taking place up and down the Pacific Coast, which police have linked to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick has other ideas, and he zeroes in on one perp, a thief looking for a final score.”

Layton is known for directing 2012’s The Imposter and 2018’s American Animals. He is producing the movie alongside Story Factory’s Shane Salerno, Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan, RAW’s Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger, Hemsworth, and Ben Grayson. RAW’s Joely Fether serves as an executive producer.

Production on Crime 101 is expected to begin this month. An exact release date has not yet been announced by Amazon MGM Studios, though it is expected to arrive in theaters in 2025.
