The world of Batman is expanding at DC Studios, as THR is reporting that Bane and Deathstroke are getting their own movie together.
What do we know about the Bane & Deathstroke movie?
According to THR, DC Studios is currently developing the project and has brought in writer Matthew Orton to develop the script for the project. Orton is no stranger to the world of comic books, having written material for the reshoots of Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World. Ortonw as also a consulting producer on the Disney+ Moon Knight series.
Outside of Orton’s involvement, pretty much nothing is known about the movie, including any casting, directors, or just how the movie will tie into the overarching DC Universe that James Gunn and Peter Safran are trying to craft.
The character of Bane is one of the more recent additions to Batman’s list of villains but has quickly become one of the most popular and recognizable. Originally debuting in 1993’s Batman: Vengeance of Bane #1, Bane has appeared in multiple live-action films, including 1997’s Batman & Robin and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, where Tom Hardy played him.
Deathstroke was introduced into the world of DC Comics in 1980 in The New Teen Titans #2, and is a former U.S. Army operative who has enhanced physical and mental abilities due to a super-soldier serum. The character has also become a fan-favorite over the years and has appeared in a ton of projects, most notably the animated Teen Titans series and the live-action Arrow and Titans television shows.
In film, Deathstroke was briefly played by Joe Manganiello in a scene in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
