The cast of Thunderbolts*, along with director Jake Schreier, appeared together at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The panel confirmed that U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, played by Ford will not appear in the movie. Producer Kevin Feige was also at the event and further clarified that the team in Thunderbolts* is not a namesake of Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross. (via Entertainment Weekly)

As for the asterisk, Feige stated that its significance will be revealed in the movie itself. He assured the fans that by the end of the movie, they would know how the asterisk fits in the story.
