Netflix has officially tapped Hamilton vet Anthony Ramos to join the cast of the untitled Kathryn Bigelow thriller movie. Just like with rest of its ensemble cast, details about Ramos’ character remained under wraps.
Ramos is best known for his Golden Globe-nominated performance in Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s award-winning Broadway musical Hamilton. He most recently starred in Universal Pictures’ disaster movie Twisters, alongside Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Besides the upcoming Netflix movie, Ramos will also next be seen in the sci-fi comedy movie Distant, as well as in Marvel Studios’ long-delayed Ironheart series.
Who is in the cast of the Kathryn Bigelow thriller movie?
Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled Netflix movie will be led by Idris Elba (The Wire, Pacific Rim) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune: Part Two), who have signed on for leading roles. They will also be joined by Jared Harris (Chernobyl), Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent), Greta Lee (Past Lives), Tracy Letts (Lady Bird), Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Aminah Nieves (1923) and newcomer Malachi Beasley.
This will serve as the acclaimed filmmaker’s feature directorial comeback. The project will reportedly have the same tone as 2012’s Zero Dark Thirty. According to its brief synopsis, the film will reportedly revolve around “a group of White House officials scrambling to deal with an incoming missile attack on the U.S.” The upcoming White House thriller wasn’t actually going to be Bigelow’s director comeback project, as the Oscar-winning filmmaker was originally attached to helm the film adaptation of Aurora based on blockbuster scribe David Koepp’s survival thriller novel, which was first announced back in 2022.
