Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is just around the corner, bringing new features and fighters to the popular game. The official launch trailer shows several new characters in action including horror icon, Ghostface from Scream.
Ghostface from Scream has a gut wrenching fatality in Mortal Kombat 1 expansion
Unfortunately, fans won’t get a glimpse of the Scream antagonist’s gameplay. However, Ghostface’s first fatality ends the trailer, and it is absolutely brutal.
It begins with Ghostface stabbing Sub-Zero in the gut, ripping his stomach open. A second Ghostface then appears, an obvious nod to several twists from the films, sticking a knife straight into Sub-Zero’s skull. It ends with the Lin Kuei leader’s head obliterated, with the two killers staring ominously at the camera. Anyone who wants to check it out can see it in the trailer below.
Additional guest characters T-1000 Terminator (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) and Conan the Barbarian are not present. However, a fresh look at new playable characters Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot is shown. These Mortal Kombat characters seem to have a significant role in the upcoming expansion.
The release of Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns marks the return of Animalities. These are fatalities that transform the winning player into an animal who then decimates their opponent. Several of them are shown in the new trailer including Noob Saibot’s crocodile, and Liu Kang’s phoenix transformations.
Additionally, the new video flaunts four new character skins. Wedding Scorpion, Empress Mileena, Ultimate MK3 Sub-Zero, and Ultimate MK3 Noob Saibot are available as a bonus to those who preorder.
Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns is the upcoming expansion for the 2023 fighting game. It continues the story from the base game in which Titan Havik appears from an alternate timeline. Fire God Liu Kang and his champions come together, as well as some of their enemies, come together to put a stop to the threat.
Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns launches on September 24, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Preorders are available now.
