Saw Theatrical Rerelease Date Set for 20th Anniversary

Lionsgate and Fathom Events have announced the Saw theatrical rerelease date for the forthcoming screenings of James Wan’s 2004 survival horror movie.

“Photographer Adam Stanheight and oncologist Lawrence Gordon regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom,” reads the film’s synopsis. “As the two men realize they’ve been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed “Jigsaw” and must complete his perverse puzzle to live, flashbacks relate the fates of his previous victims. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon’s wife and young daughter are forced to watch his torture via closed-circuit video.”

When is the Saw theatrical rerelease date?

In celebration of its upcoming 20th anniversary, the unrated version of Saw will officially arrive in theaters nationwide on Sunday, October 20, and on Wednesday, October 23. Each screening will also include an exclusive bonus content, featuring lead star Tobin Bell discussing the phenomenon of the horror franchise’s fandom and offering behind-the-scenes perspectives. Tickets for the special screenings are available at Fathom Events, or at participating theater box offices.

The 2004 horror movie was directed by The Conjuring Universe creator James Wan from a screenplay written by Invisible Man filmmaker Leigh Whannell. The latter also starred in the film alongside Bell as Jigsaw, Cary Elwes as Dr. Lawrence Gordon, Danny Glover as Detective David Tapp, Ken Leung as Detective Steven Sing, Dina Meyer as Kerry, Shawnee Smith as Amanda, Makenzie Vega as Diana Gordon, Monica Potter as Alison Gordon and more. Following its commercial success, Saw was followed by ten more sequels, including the upcoming Saw XI, which will debut in 2025.
