Darksiders 2 Returns With Enhanced Deathinitive Edition

THQ Nordic announced Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is returning with PS5 and Xbox Series versions. Taking advantage of newer hardware, Death’s adventure comes back on October 15, 2024.

What is Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition?

Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is the definitive way to play THQ Nordic’s action RPG. It includes the base game and DLC all in one package, providing over 30 hours of content. It also features improved graphics, as well as reworked game balancing and loot distribution.

Now that Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, it will take advantage of the new generation hardware. Both versions will feature 4K resolution, ray tracing, and improved lighting and shadows. Thanks to high-speed SSD, players will experience faster loading times. Specific to the PS5 version, the game takes advantage of DualSense’s haptic feedback features. Take a peek at the new trailer below.

Preorders are currently open for Darksiders 2: Deathinitive Edition. Normally retailing at $29.99, both PS5 and Xbox Series owners who preorder will receive a 50% discount. That means it’ll only cost $14.99. Players who already own the game on any of the two consoles will receive a free upgrade for the new version when it launches in October.

Darksiders 2 originally launched back in 2012, featuring Death, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, as the main protagonist. The remastered Deathinitive Edition launched for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2015. It eventually came to Nintendo Switch in 2019.

THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games did announce a new Darksiders game is currently in the works. A teaser trailer was revealed last month that didn’t show much beyond a trio of giant burning stone heads saying “horsemen.” It closed with the phrase, “Be prepared to ride again.” Otherwise, details about the upcoming sequel are scarce.
