Here’s everything you need to know about Robbie Chosen’s name change details.
Why did NFL wide receiver Robbie Chosen change his name?
Chosen made a drastic change to his name in February 2023 to showcase “his new era and direction.” This was the third time he underwent a name change.
Chosen previously went by the name Robbie Anderson. However, he announced his name change ahead of joining the Miami Dolphins in April 2023 on Instagram. He shared a text message with his lawyer, declaring that now he legally goes by the name “Anderson R, Chosen.” A sudden name shift sparked curiosity among fans to know the hidden meaning behind it.
In an interview with Pro Football Network, Chosen refrained from giving out details on his sudden name switch and believed in keeping it private. Moreover, he deemed the name change as a “positive thing.”
He said, “But it was a positive, positive thing. I’ll touch on it at a different time, and it was a little process, legal things. … But there’s a positive meaning behind it. Something I’m very grateful for and something I feel strongly about.”
Furthermore, he acknowledged it was because of an intimate reason thus he doesn’t want to delve too much into it. Nevertheless, his name switch reportedly is a way to reflect a fresh start and go in a new direction, while detaching from his past mistakes.
What was Robbie Chosen’s old name?
Chosen’s original name was Robby Anderson. However, he tweaked his first name a bit, making it Robbie Anderson during his early NFL Career.
He reportedly revealed that he preferred Robbie over Robby’s spelling, thus he modified his name. However, his minor name modification was barely noticeable. He got significant attention for his name shift, last year, when he preferred to be called Anderson R. Chosen.
