Smile 2 Rating Revealed, Contains Bloody Violent Content & Grisly Images

The Motion Picture Association (MPA) rating for Smile 2 has been revealed.

Smile 2 will be released in United States theaters next month from Paramount Pictures. A sequel to 2022’s Smile, the film stars Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, and more.

What is the MPA rating for Smile 2?

Per FilmRatings, Smile 2 has been given an R rating by the MPA. It is rated R for “strong bloody violent content, grisly images, language throughout, and drug use.”

The original Smile movie was also rated R for strong violent content, grisly images, and language, though not for drug use. It proved to be a huge financial hit for Paramount, as it brought in approximately $217.4 million at the global box office off an estimated $17 million budget. It also received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics.

“About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events,” the synopsis for the forthcoming sequel reads. “Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control.”

The film is written and directed by Parker Finn, who also helmed the original Smile movie.  It is produced by Finn, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and Robert Salerno.

The cast also includes Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, Ray Nicholson, and Drew Barrymore.

Smile 2 releases in United States theaters on October 18, 2024, from Paramount Pictures.

Smile, meanwhile, is currently streaming on both Hulu and Paramount+. It is also available to rent or purchase on digital platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and more.
