1000-lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton has been in the news recently after she was arrested. The TV star along with her sister Tammy Slaton were the subjects of 1000-lb Sisters, which focuses on their weight loss journey. So, what happened to Slaton and why is she in jail?
Here’s everything you need to know about Amy Slaton’s arrest.
Why was Amy Slaton arrested?
Amy Slaton has been arrested and charged with illegal possession of schedule I and schedule VI, along with two counts of child endangerment.
According to WREG-TV, Crockett County deputies arrested Slaton and a man named Brian Lovvron on Monday afternoon in their car at the Tennesse Safari Park in Alamo. The police officials were summoned initially after a camel allegedly bit a guest.
Upon arriving at the scene, officials “were immediately overtaken by suspicious odors” from the guest’s car. Subsequently, they searched the vehicle and found illegal drugs, leading to Slaton and Lovvron’s arrest.
They were later taken to the Crockett County Jail. While Slaton is charged with drug possession and child endangerment, Lovvron is also facing multiple charges. More details about their offense remain unclear at the moment.
The arrest reports have shocked fans deeply. Many are concerned that her latest arrest might put 1000-lb Sisters Season 6 at stake. Although TLC hasn’t confirmed a potential upcoming season, its massive viewership and popularity mean there could be another installment. Usually, the series drops installments back-to-back each year, meaning Season 6 could have been expected next year. However, with no details currently about Slaton’s release, it’s difficult to determine the fate of the reality show.
Previously, Slaton and Michael Halterman, who were married for four years, called it quits in February 2023. Slaton then moved in with her sister Tammy. The following month, Halterman filed for divorce (via In Touch Weekly). They share two kids, Gage and Glenn, and after their divorce, the couple received split custody of their children.
