Prime Video has released first-look images for A Very Royal Scandal, starring Michael Sheen (Good Omens) as Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Set to hit the streaming service on September 19, 2024, the upcoming miniseries is based on the controversial “Newsnight” interview.
In addition to Sheen as the disgraced prince, Ruth Wilson (The Affair) stars as journalist and BBC anchor Emily Maitlis. The series is directed by Julian Jarrold (The Crown) and is based on a screenplay by The Last King of Scotland writer Jeremy Brock. You can check out the first-look images down below:
A Very Royal Scandal, centering around the infamous interview with Prince Andrew, is a follow-up to 2018’s Hugh Grant-led A Very English Scandal and 2021’s Paul Bettany and Claire Foy-starring A Very British Scandal.
The synopsis for the forthcoming series reads as follows: “One night. One hour. One interview that sent shockwaves around the globe. Based on the real-life 2019 interview between Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew over the scandalous accusations he faced regarding his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein and Virginia Giuffre. A Very Royal Scandal follows the action of Maitlis and Prince Andrew in the lead-up to the interview, the ground-breaking event itself and the many questions left in its wake that would change their lives forever.”

Apart from Sheen and Wilson, the rest of the A Very Royal Scandal cast includes Eanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) as Stewart MacLean, Alexander Owen (Dreaming Whilst Black) as Jake Morris, Joanna Scanlan (Notes on a Scandal) as Amanda Thirsk, Sam Troughton (Ragdoll) as Donal McCabe, Clare Calbraith (Tell Me Everything) as Sam Mcalister, Alex Jennings (Your Christmas or Mine?) as Sir Edward Young, and Claire Rushbrook (Secrets & Lies) as Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
