Since the official announcement of Our Generation, fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of the drama. The upcoming romantic Chinese drama has created a buzz after officially announcing popular actors Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe as leads. The actors previously teamed up in the hit wuxia drama The Princess Royal.
Our Generation, also known as Cherry Amber, is tentatively scheduled to come out in 2025. Directed by Zhang Kai Zhou, the drama is an adaptation of Yun Zhu’s web novel Ying Tao Hu Po. A collaborative project by Daylight Entertainment and Youku, the upcoming series has already accumulated a high number of reservations on Youku.
Our Generation takes place in the early 1990s. It follows the lives of two young people with completely contrasting personalities and how they form a bond and heal one another, ultimately resulting in a delightful love story. Directed by Zhang Kai Zhou from the script by Zeng Lu, Our Generation follows the story of Lin Qi Le (Zhao Jinmai), a bubbly and cheerful girl who is affectionately called Cherry by her loved ones. Aside from growing up in a small town surrounded by mountains, she seems to be lucky to have loving parents and supporting friends. Qi Le loves nature, and there appears to be no problem with her pleasant life.
However, when she was nine years old, she met someone who was, in every way, different from her. Jiang Qiao Xi (Zhang Linghe), a boy of her age, transfers to her school from the provincial capital. Jiang Qiao Xi is gloomy and introverted, and he seems to have a problem with everything around him. A math prodigy, he seemingly exudes a charming aura. However, amid all this, he chooses to be reserved and is unhappy.
To top it off, his family appears to be elitist and superior. Jiang Qiao Xi’s life is cold and pale, resembling the cold snow on the mountain surrounding the small town. But his dull and grey life suddenly sees colors when he forms a friendship with warmhearted Qi Le.
Aside from Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Lighe, the drama production has yet to reveal more details about its cast. Furthermore, the exact release date and broadcasting schedule of the 24-episode series have yet to be announced.
