What to know about Par for the Course
Plot details about the comedy are kept under wraps, but the project is described as an original idea from Brunson. She is set to co-write the movie alongside Abbott Elementary writer Justin Tan, who will also direct in his debut behind the camera. Alex McAtee will produce on behalf of Point Grey as part of its first-look deal with Universal.
Behind the camera, Brunson is also set to produce for Fifth Chance. Senior EVP Production Development Erik Baiers and Creative Executive Jacqueline Garell, meanwhile, oversee the project on behalf of the studio.
Brunson is known as the star and creator of the hit ABC mockumentary Abbott Elementary, which won her recognition at the Emmys and Golden Globes. With her other recent credits, including Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and A Black Lady Sketch Show, Brunson is again Emmy-nominated for her work on the ABC show. Abbott Elementary Season 4, meanwhile, debuts on October 9.
As for Hsu, the actress is best known for her Academy Award-nominated dual role in A24’s multiversal saga Everything Everywhere All at Once. She also stars and executive produces Laid, an upcoming comedy show for the Peacock streaming service.
Point Grey was founded in 2011 by Rogen and Evan Goldberg. It’s behind projects like This Is The End, Neighbors, and the recent thriller Miller’s Girl. Most recently, on the television side, Point Grey has been behind The Boys and Sausage Party: Foodtopia. Both stream on Prime Video.
